Barbarian Diet

Every good religious movement ;) needs dietary restrictions. The modern barbarian doesn't eat raw meat. He eats natural food. This means an exclusion of all forms of factory farming. For the most part, this means there are no particular foods that are excluded. Even white flour, pork, and white sugar may be consumed. The Barbarian diet is determined not by what is eaten, but by how it is grown. Barbarian food should be organic, but the organic label is not necessarily complete. Specifically:

  • No chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides
  • No artificial flavors or colors.
  • No embalming ("preservatives")
  • No frankenfood (growth hormones, radiation, genetic tampering)
  • No propertied food (patented crops)
  • No prisons (i.e., veal, eggs)
  • No enpoorments (added "vitamins")

The Great Diet, which is to say, if Barbarianism were taken to its fullest extent, would be local, and would avoid even such "natural foods" producers as Toms Of Maine and Knutsen, which are subject to the possibility, if not the fact, of corporate takeover. The Great Diet will focus on foods wherein the farmer or hunter is known to the cooker or eater.
