Weather and Climate Change

Is anyone else sick of hearing newscasters (even the "liberal" ones) asking if a particular weather event can be caused by climate change? "Climate change" may be a fancy science term, but I can break it down for them: it means the climate has changed. Still too fancy? "Climate" means  the long-term patterns of weather. So can any particular weather event be "caused by" climate change? No. Our weather IS part of our changed climate.

Newscasters are thinking they are getting more evidence of climate change. But those who deny the science won't be persuaded by one hot day, and those who don't, don't need to be persuaded. So all they're doing is perpetuating a false debate on settled science. When a building falls over, you don't call a physicist and ask if it is further evidence of gravity.
